Stability and change in major life goals during the transition to parenthood

The transition to parenthood introduces changes in various life domains. In this paper, we examined whether and what degree the is related importance of major goals. To do this, rank-order stability, ipsative mean-level change six goal domains ( achievement, power, variation, affiliation, altruism, intimacy) a sample 248 parents 294 individuals romantic relationship without children across two time points. Overall, found high (variable-oriented) (person-oriented) little evidence for goals parenthood. However, several selection effects suggesting that women tended endorse agentic variation achievement) more than mothers did.
